Amanda Holden Biography
Amanda Holden is a British actress, born in Hampshire on February 16th, 1971. She is best known for her television roles in the BBC's EastEnders, and the drama serial Cutting It. Her debut was in a dating series called Blind Date, where she was, unfortunately, not the chosen dater. After a few failed comedy series, she married Les Dennis. Some suggest that Amanda became famous only for marrying Les, because she separated from him soon after their marriage began after her publicized affair with the popular actor Neil Morrissey.

This, of course, made her popular with the widespread British tabloids, who targeted her from the beginning of the affair through to the divorce with Les in November 2003. It has been theorized that her marriage was a calculated step, designed to boost her popularity, as she had been failing as an actress due to her rather unemotional and inexpressive performances.

Holden has appeared in musicals and even sang what was termed a "awful attempt" of "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin on a BBC telethon. Once again, Amanda used her personal life as a way to promote her mediocre career, using this performance as a means to announce her engagement to the record company executive Chris Hughes.

She most recently appeared on an ITV drama called Wild at Heart, which began in 2006. Successful enough to merit a second series which began in January 2007, Wild at Heart is a drama about a veterinarian from Bristol who moves with his family to South Africa to head up a wildlife preserve there. The second season has begun to drop in ratings, giving rise to critics pronouncement that there probably will not be a third.

Amanda has one child, a girl named Alexa Louise Florence Hughes, who is just over 1 year old. She is still currently married to Hughes, and will be a judge on ITV's Britians Got Talent, where she was a last minute replacement for a better known singer/actress.
